Went out of town over the weekend and didn't want to bring along my sweet sweater to finish. I'm at the point where I keep having to try it on to size it, and it's inconvenient to do when you have people all around you, ya know? It's better if I keep it as a late-night project. Besides, it's been bitter cold here the last week, and I've been bundled up in heavy sweatshirts and sweaters!
I did manage to work on some baby hats for the Caps to the Capital project. They work up very quickly, and I've finished a few already. I'd like to see how many I can do and use up some of my scrap yarn stash.
I've been developing a pretty good cold over the last couple of days, and yesterday I went home from work sick 1/2 day when it got to the "raging cold" stage. You know, where your nose just runs all down your face...... i know, eewww. I have a red, raw nose and my lips are on fire!
Today, not feeling any better, I'm home sick and it's my birthday. Can you believe it? My husband agrees that we'll celebrate another day. I haven't even felt like crocheting, so you know how sick I really am!

Help from Bitty
Had a lot of fun with the girls tonight at our
S 'n' B, although I didn't accomplish too much on my sweater. So I came home and worked on it after the kids went to bed and Mark fell asleep. As you can see, I had a little helper!
I kept running into problems with the size once I did the sleeves, and it was just too big. So I modified to use 1 ch instead of 2 ch under the arms, and now it fits perfectly. I also switched hook sizes (started top portion with an I hook) down to an H hook, and here's where I am now. I just started the 3rd ball of yarn, and it's hitting my midriff. I hope to finish it up by the end of the week!

Enough sweets for tonight
Went to Hobby Lobby after work and picked up 3 more balls of Stuart. Hopefully that will be enough to finish my sweet sweater. I've crocheted it and ripped it out 2-3 times now, and am getting discouraged. I need to ask someone for help! Enough for tonight, I'm going to bed.

Which WIP should I concentrate on?
The gals from work and I are having a Stitch 'n' Bitch on Wednesday, so I need to figure out which of my many WIPs I will bring. It will probably end up being my Sweet Sweater, if I can work past the sleeves. I'm having a bit of problems it draping in the back. I think it has something to do with the number of stitches in the front and back being even. I believe I misread the original instructions, so I have a bit of tearing out to do. Once I get it going, I expect to whip this thing out and finish it this week.
I also suggested we create some hats for the Caps to the Capital project. I said I would bring some knit and crochet patterns to share. I personally would like to make 3. Maybe we can put Indiana on the map!

Baby Snakes hiding in my yarn stash!
Whipped up some baby snakes for my boys - in hopes of using up some of my undesirable acrylic yarns. I even made the kitty a little catnip mouse!
Who is Stuart anyway?
Tonight, I started my Sweet Sweater as part of the
crochet me C-A-L. Thought I would try to use some bulky yarn so it works up quick. In my stash, I had some Highland Thistle yarn (Hobby Lobby brand) in a pretty red color called "Stuart" (go figure?) I haven't even joined the C-A-L yet, but I wanted to get a head start. The yarn worked up pretty quickly and 1 ball got me almost all the way to the cap sleeves. And then I ran out, of course! It's killing me because I'm wide awake and I'm out of yarn. Everyone in my family is asleep, but I apparently drank too much caffeine today. To top it off, Hobby Lobby is closed on Sundays, so I'll have to wait until freakin' Monday to get more yarn.

Isabelle's Hat and Poncho done!
I finished Isabelle's hat! I ended up making a simple hat in Bernat Soft Baby yarn, in a pretty pink, and added the cute curlies on top. I also put a reverse single crochet edging on the rim.
The booties I started (i made just one) look like they will fit a 2 year old, and no matter what size hook I tried to use, I couldn't make them smaller. I'll have to talk to Grandma about this and see what she can tell me, other than my stitches are too loose.
I gave up and made the little baby poncho, in Red Heart baby, multi-color yarn, and added a shell edging and curly tie made from the pink yarn to match her hat.
